ALL ABOUT THE INFANT & TODDLERS
OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT IS INCLUSIVE, TANGIBLE AND INTERACTIVE; THE ENVIRONMENT IS ASSESSED, REVIEWED AND CHANGED ON A FREQUENT BASIS.
The infant and toddler area caters for children under the age of 2. We have high teacher/child ratios which are over and above the government regulations. Teachers provide learning experiences which enhances their opportunity to grow as competent, confident learners healthy in body, mind and spirit and nurture their wellbeing to the fullest potential. This includes encouraging children to begin to develop self help skills. Interactions are encouraged verbally and non verbally through the use of 'baby sign' which the teachers role model with the children.
In the infant and toddler setting we have a spacious inside and outside area with easy access where children explore and learn to develop skills. Children have the opportunity to choose resources to interact with which encourages decision making, and turn taking. The various curriculum areas are designed thoughtfully for children to have free movement, sensory experiences and develop social skills.
Our aim is to foster children’s holistic development and give them a sense of belonging within a safe and secure environment.
Our infant and toddlers are under Primary Caregiving. We follow each childs individual routine keeping consistency between home and centre life. This is documented daily through our communication books which go between home and the centre giving parents the overview of what has happened during the day.
